Description
The Helios 21 Handpan
An Expanded Range for Deeper Expression.
The Sonara Helios 21 brings an extended musical range to a striking warm bronze finish.
Built around a 21-note, double-sided configuration, the Helios gives players considerably more room for melody, harmony, bass movement, and rhythmic development than a conventional handpan layout.
Its F Pygmy scale adds a deep, atmospheric character, creating an instrument designed for musicians who want to move beyond simple patterns and explore more complete musical ideas.
21-Note Double-Sided Layout
The Helios uses both sides of the instrument as active playing surfaces, allowing 21 tone fields to be distributed across the shell without overcrowding the primary playing area.
This extended architecture creates significantly more possibilities for melodic progression, transitions, harmonic variation, and composition.
For experienced players, it provides a much broader musical vocabulary. For developing musicians, it offers substantial room to grow without quickly reaching the limitations of a smaller note configuration.
F Pygmy Scale
The Helios is tuned in F Pygmy, a deep and atmospheric scale particularly suited to expressive improvisation.
Its tonal relationships allow melodies to develop naturally while retaining the intuitive character that makes the handpan so distinctive.
Combined with the extended 21-note layout, F Pygmy offers enough range to explore both minimalist, spacious playing and significantly more developed compositions.
Premium Stainless Steel Construction
Crafted from high-quality stainless steel, the Helios is designed to combine acoustic performance with long-term durability.
The material supports rich sustain and resonance while providing good resistance to corrosion. Particular attention is given to maintaining clarity between the numerous tone fields—an important consideration on an extended-range instrument.
Its warm bronze finish gives the Helios an organic, understated appearance that changes subtly depending on the surrounding light.
432 Hz or 440 Hz
Choose between two reference pitches according to your musical environment and preference.
440 Hz — Standard Concert Pitch
Recommended when playing alongside most contemporary instruments or other musicians using standard tuning.
432 Hz — Alternative Pitch
A slightly lower reference pitch often preferred for solo playing and immersive environments such as meditation or yoga.

The Helios is designed for players seeking more range from a single acoustic instrument.
Its 21-note architecture creates space for longer melodic phrases, wider tonal movement, richer transitions, and increasingly sophisticated arrangements. As technique develops, the double-sided layout also encourages greater hand independence and new approaches to phrasing.
It is particularly suited to advanced improvisation, composition, personal practice, live performance, meditation, yoga, and sound-based wellness sessions.
The Sonara Helios 21 is an instrument built not around limitation, but around possibility.
