Description
The Nocturne Handpan
Deep Resonance. Intuitive by Nature.
The Sonara Nocturne is built around one of the qualities that makes the handpan so captivating: the ability to create rich, expressive music without complexity getting in the way.
Tuned in D Minor, its warm low register and naturally complementary notes create an immersive soundscape that responds beautifully to both gentle, meditative playing and more rhythmic improvisation.
With its distinctive dark finish and carefully balanced tonal layout, the Nocturne is an instrument designed to be explored—not simply played.
Premium Stainless Steel Construction
Crafted from high-quality stainless steel, the Nocturne combines durability with the resonance and sustain expected from a carefully made acoustic instrument.
The material provides excellent sound projection while helping maintain tonal clarity and resistance to corrosion over time. Its refined satin surface gives the instrument its distinctive appearance while remaining comfortable beneath the hands.
Tuned in D Minor
The Nocturne is tuned to D Minor, an expressive scale known for its deep, emotional character.
Its notes are arranged to interact harmoniously, making spontaneous improvisation remarkably intuitive. Simple patterns can quickly develop into layered melodies, while more experienced players have room to explore rhythm, dynamics, and phrasing.
This balance makes D Minor particularly well suited to both first-time players and developing musicians.
9 or 10 Notes
9 Notes — Focused & Intuitive
A streamlined tonal layout designed for effortless exploration. Its simplicity makes it particularly approachable for beginners, meditation, and minimalist playing.
10 Notes — Greater Melodic Freedom
Adds another dimension to the instrument's melodic vocabulary while preserving an intuitive playing experience. An excellent choice for players who want additional creative possibilities as their technique develops.
Choose Your Tuning: 432 Hz or 440 Hz
440 Hz — Standard Concert Pitch
The conventional choice for musicians who plan to play alongside other instruments tuned to modern concert pitch.
432 Hz — Lower Alternative Tuning
Offers a slightly lower overall pitch and is popular among some players for solo, meditative, and wellness-oriented practice.
Rather than claiming that 432 Hz has scientifically proven therapeutic effects, Sonara gives you the choice based on your listening preference and intended playing environment.
